Sunsets are often synonymous with holidays and are a romantic time of day that creates the type of memories that will last a lifetime. It seems as though many of us have photos of bright, colourful skies sinking into darkness across the water or over mountains in the past. We gathered more than 750 photos and 15,000 votes to reveal the best sun-watching locations in the UK.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

10. Morte Point, Devon

9. Sturminster Marshall, Dorset 

Despite the fact that this sunflower picture is seasonal, we can’t deny that its view is undeniably beautiful. If you are in Dorset next summer, don’t miss the chance to capture it at sunset or sunrise.

There’s something dramatic about the contrast of colors in Devon as those boats quietly bobble as they gaze into the distance.

Those who have climbed Snowdon/Yr Wyddfa in Wales will already be able to appreciate the magic of the view, but the sunrise captured in this shot is something we rarely get to enjoy. As well as the dramatic terrains, the clouds, and the colours of the sun really make the landscape spectacular. The great outdoors are not the only thing to look forward to in Snowdonia/Eryri National Park, as there’s plenty to do as well. 

3. Blenclathra, Lake District

There are many awe-inspiring views in the Lake District, but this one is quite special. The vivid orange lighting up the sky contrasted with the dramatic, mighty mountains; it’s the kind of sight that leaves you breathless. Find out what else you can do in the Lake District.

2. Macclesfield Forest, Cheshire

In a very close second place is Macclesfield Forest in Cheshire. Its beautiful views of the sun disappearing beneath the hills makes it the ideal place to watch an autumn sunset.
